WHY RETINOIDS

Acne starts before the pimple. Retinoids work upstream.

HOW TRETINOIN WORKS

Keeps pores from clogging in the first place.

Glucose control.

Tretinoin is a vitamin A derivative that binds retinoic acid receptors in skin cells. Activating those receptors changes how quickly cells turn over and how readily they shed, which addresses the follicular plug at the root of acne rather than the inflammation downstream of it.

Speeds cell turnover

Tretinoin accelerates how quickly skin cells at the follicle wall mature and shed, so dead cells are less likely to accumulate and plug the pore.

Reduces new comedones

By keeping the follicle clear, tretinoin limits formation of the microcomedones that later become whiteheads, blackheads, and inflamed lesions.

Supports skin texture over time

Sustained retinoid use has been studied for its effects on collagen production and pigment distribution, which is why improvements in tone and texture are often reported alongside acne clearance.

Works best with sun protection

Retinoids increase sun sensitivity. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is part of the protocol, not an optional extra.
