HOW DUAL AGONISTS WORK
Two signals instead of one.
Glucose control.
Tirzepatide activates both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Both are incretin hormones the gut releases after a meal, and both are involved in insulin response, appetite signaling, and how quickly the stomach empties. Engaging both pathways is the pharmacologic distinction from single GLP-1 agonists.
